Intellectual and Academic Functioning Assessment

Is your child experiencing difficulties at school?  Are his/her grades lower than you would like or have you noticed a difference in your child’s academic performance?  Evaluations that focus on intellectual and academic functioning can help you set realistic expectations about how your child should be performing in school and identify areas where additional assistance might be beneficial.  These types of evaluations look at an individual’s overall IQ, as well as different components of intelligence.  Additional testing looks at specific academic functioning in areas of reading, math, spelling, etc., and through comparison with intelligence scores, we can determine if a learning disorder may be present.  Results of intellectual or academic functioning evaluations allow us to provide recommendations for way to build upon your child’s strengths while improving areas of difficulty.  Additionally, recommendations may include specific ways that your child can be individually assisted in the school system, if applicable.
